Take necessary CBM's to make environment conducive for holding Assembly elections. Vakil to GoI

Sopore June (KNS): Senior Vice President J&K Peoples Conference and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the government of India should implement Confidence Building Measures (CBM's), if they want larger participation of people in Assembly Elections as larger participation in the elections will make the election meaningful and purposeful thereby will be befitting reply for those who are inimical to peace in J&K.

GoI should implement CBM's on priorty which include granting statehood to J&K without making it conditional, release political prisoners, regularisation of daily wagers,  a special employment package for unemployed youth  and what is more important is to grant ST status to Paharis. Apart from these CBMs, GoI should take special measures to rejuvenate fruit industry as thousands of families are directly or indirectly associated with this industry. Vakil was addressing a party workers convention at Nowpora Kalan Sopore today.

Vakil also raised questions on lofty claims of Naya Kashmir which were made by the Central Government but things have remained unchanged on the ground. There are no jobs for our youth, petrol and diesel prices are touching the skies. Government has ignored these important issues faced by common people although the UT administration is talking of development, but that is restricted to papers and statements only and government is doing nothing to give respite to the common people from the inflation Vakil added.(KNS)
