TAAK at forefront in promoting tourism: Dir Tourism

Srinagar, Feb 5:(KNS)  Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) held its 13th Annual General Meeting on Saturday virtually through Zoom app in view of the Covid guidelines in place .

The virtual AGM saw the attendence of large number of TAAK members who   interacted with the office bearers during the proceedings of the AGM.

Director Tourism Kashmir Dr. GN Itoo who was the keynote speaker in his address appreciated TAAK for following Covid guidelines and organising the AGM virtually due to Covid restrictions in place.

Dr Itoo said TAAK has been at the forefront in the promotion of Kashmir Tourism and assured his full support to the association in its endeavours to promote the J&K as most sought after tourism destination.

On the occasion, the Director Tourism said that the department is making every effort to invite travellers to the Union Territory by organizing webinars and roadshows.

The Director Tourism further said the department would continue promotions in collaboration with the stakeholders.

He also sought inputs and suggestions from TAAK for upcoming road shows and promotional programmes.

Earlier, President TAAK Farooq  Kuthoo , who chaired the AGM proceedings hailed the efforts of the Tourism department in attracting tourists to Valley while also ensuring Covid protocols, testing of the travellers and vaccination of the stakeholders for risk free tourism.

Kuthoo highlighted the achievements of the TAAK and hailed the contribution of its office bearers, Executive Committee members and general members.

The President TAAK assured the association members of taking up all the issues of the travel sector with the higher authorities of J & K Government for their redressal.

Secretary General TAAK Showkat A Khankashi presented and read out the Annual Administration Report in detail and Finance Secretary Mohammad Shafi Jaan presented the annual financial report.

During the AGM several resolutions were passed on the floor of the house and some constitutional amendments were also made.

Former President Peerzada Fiyaz also addressed the gathering and shared his inputs about promoting Kashmir as a preferred tourism destination.

The event was moderated by Ex Officio Ashfaq Siddiq Dug while Founder President Rauf  Tramboo also interacted with members and presented vote of thanks .(KNS
