Swimming competition held at Nigeen, Dir Tourism distributes prizes

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 07:(KNS)    A swimming competition organized by Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir in collaboration with some local NGOs at Nigeen Sports Center concluded here today.

More than 100 children including girls from various areas of Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama and Ganderbal participated in the event.

Events held during the event included one km Long distance, 50 mts freestyle, 100mts freestyle, Water Rescue, CPR training, Boating etc. 

Director, Tourism Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away prizes among the winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Itoo said the idea of holding the swimming competition is to hone the adventure talent among the children so that they are able to beat the stagnation crept in among them out of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said the Department has been conducting such events to further widen the scope of adventure tourism in Kashmir and attract more and more adventure tourists. He said already trekking and other mountain activities have been getting attraction among the tourists which is set to give tourism here a big boost.(KNS)
