Jammu, Apr 18 (KNS): As a part of the on-going nation-wide “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan”, the Secretary to Government, Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, J&K, Sheetal Nanda on Wednesday flagged off a Swachhata Rath from Satwari Chowk in Jammu District to Udhampur District to promote cleanliness in the districts. Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (Village Self-Governance Campaign) started from 14th April, 2018 and will culminate on 05th May, 2018.
The Secretary was accompanied by Director Rural Sanitation, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, BDO Satwari, and other senior officers of the Department.
Urging the public to participate in the event, Sheetal underlined the need for further engendering the ‘Clean India Mission’ by organizing Swachhata rallies in every part of the city.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
She further added that Department of Rural Development is doing a commendable job in achieving the ODF status in various districts.
Giving an elaborate account of the total number of Individual Household Latrine constructions, Sheetal said that as many as 4 lakh 38 thousand IHHLs have been constructed in 2017-18 alone. She further said that out of total target of 2500 Community Sanitary Complexes (CSCs), 1139 CSCs have been completed so far. (KNS)
