Bandipora, Oct 03 (KNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” campaign launched three years ago with an aim to make India clean, seems to have failed in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district as tones of garbage could be seen lying in several parts of the town and its adjoining areas.
The people here in the town and its adjoining areas said the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Bandipora town has totally failed on the ground.
Areas like Nowpora, Bagh and its surroundings are glaring examples to expose the much hyped “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.
In the name of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, lakh of rupees are being drawn for the cleanliness of town, locals demanded enquiry into the amount being drawn, which may be misused by the concerned authorities said a resident of Nowpora.
The locals said concerned department has failed to implement Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as huge amount of garbage remains unattended on daily basis, added that the photo sessions during the campaigns launched by the concerned department have failed to make an impact on the ground.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The locals also expressed strong resentment against Municipal Committee (MC) for turning the High School into a garbage dumping site.
They said the pungent smell emanating from the site was causing inconvenience to them.
“From the past two years we are requesting MCB Bandipora to provide dustbins, instead providing, they turned Gate of High School Bagh Bandipora into Garbage dump,” the locals added.
The auto drivers of Bandipora Auto Stand said that the site has become a breeding ground for stray dogs and cattle. The garbage stinks so much that the pedestrians are forced to cover their mouth to avoid stink. (KNS)
