Suspected object recovered, destroyed along Lolab-Kupwara road: Army

Kupwara, Dec 03 (KNS): The army on Friday claimed to have averted a major incident by recovering and destroying a suspected object along Lolab-Kupwara road in this north Kashmir district.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that based on a specific input the Army was on alert and was carrying out searches along the main roads for suspected IED. 

He said that at around 11:45 am a suspected object connected to a battery by wires was noticed along the culvert of road leading from Kupwara to Kalarooch. 

“The area was immediately cordoned off, jointly by troops of 41RR, 140 Bn BSF & SOG of Kupwara police. Road was also closed for traffic movement and later bomb disposal teams of the Army reached to the spot. With due diligence and safety the suspected object was moved from road to a safer place in jungle,” he said.

The official said that the traffic was later restored on the road and the suspected object was destroyed by the bomb disposal team. 

“The synergised efforts of the Army, BSF and Kupwara Police averted a major incident from occurring, thus saving innocent lives of locals,” he said. (KNS)
