Surya Namaskar dictate an open interference in religious affairs: Hakeem Yaseen

Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS): Chairman People's Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has lambasted government for forcing people to observe 'Surya Namaskar' compulsorily.

In a statement issued to KNS, Hakeem Yaseen while criticising government for issuing directions to heads of institutions, for observing 'Surya Namaskar' in thier respective fields said that the decision was a direct interference in our religious affairs. He said the decision was also an attack on the freedom of expression and religious faith as guaranteed under India Constitution.

PDF Chairman has urged the secular minded people of the country to condemn such arbitrary steps aimed at to undermine religious freedom of the people. He said such measures need to be fought vigorously to protect the secular credentials of the largest democracy of India. "This is direct interference in the faith of majority in J&K, where majority of people believe to bow only before creator not his creation. Sun may be their God but for Muslim Ummah it is one of his marvellous creations," Hakeem Yaseen added. (KNS)
