Srinagar, Feb 15 (KNS): Local residents and attendants on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against absence of proper health facilities and availability of medical staff in the Sub-District Hospital Surankoote in Poonch district.
According to KNS Correspondent, a large number of people and patients participated in the protest demonstration held in Surankoote.
People alleged that none of the doctors remain present in hospital which forced all the attendants and outdoor patients to stage protest. They raised slogans against the hospital administration.
They complained that no doctor was available in the hospital for check-up and treatment of patients who had been admitted to the hospital during last few days.
People raised slogans against doctors who according to them are not performing their duties, properly.
A large number of locals, including relatives of patients at the hospital, participated in the demonstrations and later staged a sit-in.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The protesters said, “On one hand the government claims to be spending huge amounts on provision of basic and modern healthcare facilities and free medicines to the people, but on the other hand no medicines, not even a single syringe was available in the hospital, forcing the patients to seek treatment in hospitals in Srinagar or Jammu.”
Talking to KNS correspondent, Chief Medical Officer Poonch Dr Niyaz Ahmad said they are short of doctors and other staff and he requested higher authorities for the matter but nothing has happen. He said he is trying best to provide adequate medical facility.
“I requested higher authorities many times about our problems and staff shortage but nothing happen,” said Dr. Niyaz CMO Poonch. (KNS)
