Suppressing Elected Voices and Branding Kashmiris as ‘Others’ Is an Insult to Gandhian Legacy and Spirit of Dussehra : Inam Un Nabi

Srinagar, Oct 2 (KNS): Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi today said that the true tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary and the real spirit of Dusshera lies in standing for truth, defeating injustice and upholding the dignity of every human being. Inam was reacting to the hunger strike of incarcerated MP from Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, who is on his second day of protest inside Tihar Jail.

Inam Un Nabi said, “While the nation celebrates Gandhi Jayanti with ceremonies and Dusshera with symbolic triumph of good over evil, Er Rashid has chosen the path of Gandhian protest hunger strike to remind the rulers of the pain, humiliation and denial of justice faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Yesterday Er Rashid wrote to Bapu, recalling how Gandhi Ji once saw Kashmir as a beacon of hope when the subcontinent was burning in communal flames. Today, that very Kashmir is branded anti-national, communal and silenced. Er Rashid’s letter to Bapu is not just a message from jail; it is the cry of an entire people.”

Inam further said that Gandhi Ji’s philosophy is not to be locked in textbooks or rituals but to be lived through courage, truth and sacrifice.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The biggest tribute to Gandhi Ji is not garlanding his portraits but giving voice to the voiceless, respecting the dignity of all those and ensuring justice without discrimination. Similarly, the real meaning of Dusshera is not merely burning effigies of Ravan, but defeating the arrogance of power, the falsehood of propaganda and the oppression of the weak. That is exactly what Er Rashid has stood for, even from behind bars,” Inam Un Nabi added.

The AIP spokesperson urged the Government of India and the judiciary to take moral responsibility and address the issues raised by Er Rashid. “Suppressing the voice of elected representatives and branding Kashmiris as ‘others’ is an insult to both the Gandhian legacy and the spirit of Dusshera. On this day when Gandhi Ji and Lord Ram are remembered together, we remind the nation that their true message lies in dialogue, empathy and justice not in silencing dissent,” he said.
