Pattan, Apr 22 (KNS): Students of Government High school Hanjiwara Payeen in Pattan in Baramulla district on Friday held a protest demonstration against unavailability of school building.
 
Students blocked Srinagar-Baramulla National highway to protest against the education department to press for the demand of construction of school building.
 
While talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), they said that the school has been established in 1943 and was upgraded in 1961 then upgraded to high school in 1985.
 
“However, building has been declared unsafe in 2017 since, while we are being taught in just 2 rooms in an Imambhara in the locality, thereby making us suffer immensely,” they said. 
 
They said that the department has failed to construct new building for the school and they are being denied of basic facilities in absence of proper infrastructure.
 
Meanwhile, CEO Baramulla told KNS that all formalities for the construction of the building have been done and auction of the unsafe building will also be held soon.
 
He said that new building will be constructed within a year, while students will be accommodated in a rented building till then. (KNS)
