Srinagar, Oct 1 (KNS): Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on Thursday mourned the demise of Prof (Dr) Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, former Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine, who passed away on October 1.
In a condolence message, GMC Srinagar described Prof Bhat as an accomplished physician, academician and dedicated teacher who made significant contributions to medical education, clinical care and the institution's academic life.
Prof Bhat was particularly remembered for his distinctive teaching methods, with generations of students and postgraduate trainees recalling his ability to connect clinical medicine with classroom learning and develop a systematic approach to patient care and clinical problems.
During his long association with GMC Srinagar, he served the Department of Medicine in various capacities, including as its head. He also contributed to medical education through his book on emergency medicine and hypertension.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Principal/Dean GMC Srinagar, Prof (Dr) Iffat Hassan, expressed grief over his demise and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. She said his passing had left a void among his colleagues, students and patients, while acknowledging his longstanding contribution to the Department of Medicine and medical education.
Faculty members, administrative staff, residents, nursing and allied healthcare staff, students and other employees of GMC Srinagar expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
The institution said Prof Bhat's legacy would continue through the classrooms, wards and practical sessions where he spent much of his professional life, adding that his service to medicine, medical education and patient care would remain part of the institutional memory of GMC Srinagar.(KNS)
