Strong winds, hailstorm wreak havoc in North Kashmir parts

Srinagar, May 09 (KNS): Strong windstorm coupled with hailstorm wreaked havoc in several parts of North Kashmir on Monday, causing damage to orchards, residential houses, vehicles and also uprooted trees. 
 
Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that gusty winds and hailstorm caused damage to residential houses, vehicles, and also uprooted trees, besides transmission lines also damaged in Bandipora, Sopore, Kupwara and Baramulla. 
 
They said that traffic movement on National highway at Sangrama junction and other interior roads was also halted after trees got uprooted due to windstorm. 
 
They said that, however, timely action by Sopore police and traffic cops cleared the national highway and restored the vehicular movement. 
 
Meanwhile, an official said that power supply in several areas has got affected as winds damaged transmission lines and uprooted electric poles. 
 
He said that there were, no reports of any causality from any part of the valley, while authorities were collecting the details from about the damage. (KNS)
