Strengthening ties with glorious past needed for crime-free society : Dr Darakhshan

Srinagar, May 21 (KNS);  Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Thursday said strengthening cultural and spiritual ties with the region's glorious past is essential for a crime-free society.

Addressing an 'Asluk Aalav' social transformation event here, Dr Andrabi said the programme series—focused on five major reformative agendas—is being regularly held across all districts of Kashmir to address issues that will determine the future of society.

"We belong to the holy land of Sufis and rishis. The connection with their teachings of inclusiveness will save us from divisive forces," she said.

Dr Andrabi stressed the need for a drug-free, violence-free, and immorality-free society, asserting that the new generation must be guided with a broader holistic approach of living in harmony with nature.

"We have been hugely hurt by hate and violence in the past, and we cannot afford to bear the brunt of the divisive forces again. We have to strengthen peace and establish a fearless and progressive society," she added.

BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, who also addressed the gathering, said the youth need to be prepared for the challenges of the modern world and moulded into positive-thinking, responsible citizens capable of healthy mental and physical living.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
