Srinagar, May 25 (KNS): The Footpath Union on the third consecutive day on Wednesday continue to stage 'dharna' against the government for ‘failing to provide any suitable place to them’.
Hundreds of street vendors were assembled at Jahangir Chowk and spend were shouting slogans against the government.
The vendors who were detained on Tuesday after marching towards civil secretariat were demanding suitable place to them.
The street vendors told KNS that the tall claims of the authorities to provide alternate place to the street vendors has been exposed as after passing 20 days since their work was banned in the city centre, no suitable place has been provided to them. “With such deplorable behaviour of the authorities, we are facing immense hardships,” the vendors said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that they will continue to fight against the government until their demands will not be fulfilled, adding that, “We will continue our protest till the demands won’t met,” they said.
Threatening to launch agitation against the government, the protesting vendors said, “Government should provide any suitable alternate place for us at earliest. We will launch agitation of the demands will not fulfilled,” he said.
The vendors later appealed Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievances soon.
Meanwhile, the protesters who assembled at Jahangir Chowk in the wee hours dispersed peacefully in the late evening hours. (KNS)
