Srinagar Jan 19 (KNS) : Senior Vice President Peoples Conference & former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today lashed out at the government for bringing miseries into the lives of poor people through unjustified land eviction drive. He said there are villages which have lost their milkiyat land to floods and other natural disasters and the people have no alternative but to build their houses on State land or in Kahcharai land, so if the government today forcefully evicts them where would these poor people go as it will render lakhs of J&K people homeless .
In a statement issued to KNS,, Vakil said that we are a welfare state and to evict poor people from land on which landless people have built houses to live or small livelihood earning resources is against the idea of a welfare state. Such eviction drive should be stopped at any cost and without any further delay as the people are in depression and in confusion and are not at all expecting such as harsh step on the side of government against poor people who are already facing miserable situation due to economic slow down.
Vakil urged the LG government to come up with a proper strategy to deal with such issues, which is creating a state of depression among a large middle and lower class people.
Vakil asked the government to come up to the help of people and heal their wounds instead of inflicting more sufferings and miseries on them.(KNS)
