Stop harassing JNU students, withdraw charges of sedition: CPI(M)

‘Release immediately, unconditionally Student’s leader Kanhaiya Kumar’

Jammu, Feb 20 (KNS): CPI (M) state secretary and legislator from Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has demanded immediate and unconditional release of Kanhaiya Kumar and withdrawal of sedition charges and an immediate end to harassment of the students of JNU.
"It is a matter of serious concern that attacks are mounting against the JNU students and the academics launched by Delhi Police at the behest of BJP led Government of India. Virtually JNU University has been put under siege and seditious charges under Section 124-A of IPC, draconian colonial law, have been invoked against the president of JNU students union Kanhaiya Kumar and other students. Kanhaiya Kumar continues to be under un-lawful detention," Tarigami said.
As per KNS correspondent, Tarigami while addressing reporters in Jammu said the shameful acts of vandalism at Patiala Court beating up media persons and group of Supreme Court lawyers by law-less goons having affiliations with BJP, the ruthless beating of Kanhaiya Kumar in the court premises itself has sent shock waves across the country. Police’s inaction confirmed the brazen connivance of police with goons.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"The RSS-BJP have launched a full-fledged hate campaign against the progressive forces branding almost all others except belonging to Sangh Parivar as unpatriotic. This attempt to polarize the situation is a part of larger design of RSS to target institutions of higher learning. Under the pretext of flimsy grounds, RSS-BJP with the full patronage of the govt. is unleashing poisonous propaganda against the values of tolerance, debate and dissent. The actions of the police against the JNU students have brought great dishonour to the country and the failure of the police not to arrest those involved in open hooliganism against media persons and Kanhaiya Kumar has sufficiently established the connivance of police with hooligans.
No words are sufficient to condemn the culture of increasing communalism and authoritarianism promoted by BJP led Government of India."
"We urge all those genuinely concerned about the future and autonomy of universities to protest against these communal forces led by RSS who are desperately trying to target the institutions of higher learning." (KNS)
