State using VDCs for a particular purpose: Shah

‘We won’t leave Jammu Muslims at the mercy of communal forces’

Srinagar, June 30 (KNS): The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Thursday slammed the state administration over the patronising the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) in Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley saying this force is involved in serious crimes like killing, raping, looting, kidnapping, and intimidating.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said though serious cases have been registered against most of the VDC members, this force enjoys the patronage of a particular party and no action is taken against them.
Demanding disbanding of this communal force, Shah said VDCs are targetting the Muslim community there. “As per reports reaching here, these VDC goons are kidnapping the people and demanding ransoms. This is shameful that no action is being taken against these goons. This is intolerable,” he said.
Shah said the Muslims of Jammu shouldn’t worry as Kashmiris are on their back. “We won’t leave our Muslim brethren of Jammu at the mercy of communal forces. We won’t act as mute spectators,” he said.
“It has become clear that the state machinery is patronising the communal politics and the VDCs are being used for a particular purpose,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Expressing concern over the increasing activities of communal forces in Jammu Shah said we won’t let anyone repeat the 1947. “The communal elements, under a well-planned conspiracy, are hell bent on dividing the State but we are upholding our tradition of communal harmony as we are struggling for the right to self-determination for the people of all religions and regions of Jammu Kashmir,” he said.
The DFP chairman said New Delhi by running away from finding solution to issues is proving that it lacks courage to face the reality.
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah expressed condolence and solidarity with the family of Shaheed Samir Ahmad of Sopore and reiterated his pledge of taking the mission of martyrs to its logical conclusion.
On Shah’s directions, a party delegation visited the residence of Shaheed Samir Ahmad and expressed solidarity with the family.
In a statement, a Freedom Party spokesperson expressed grief over the loss of lives of two mujahideen during gunfight in Newah, Pulwama and paid tributes to the martyrs. (KNS)
