State govt itself disturbing peace: Hurriyat (M)

‘Carrying forward a peaceful political struggle’

Srinagar, June 06 (KNS): Terming the statement of the government that the Hurriyat leadership was disturbing peace in the state as unfounded, Hurriyat (M) Monday said the state government was itself creating a situation that was disturbing peace and causing restlessness among the people.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that real peace cannot be achieved by stifling the political freedom and liberty of the Hurriyat leadership and placing curbs on their movement.
Stressing that APHC was carrying forward a peaceful political struggle for the resolution of Kashmir issue, the conglomerate said it always stood for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue through a meaningful and result oriented dialogue and believed that New Delhi and Islamabad taking the Kashmiri resistance leadership onboard should initiate meaningful steps for the permanent resolution of Kashmir issue.
Hurriyat (M) said, however, instead of showing seriousness to resolve the vexed issue, Government of India along with the state government was on one pretext or the other creating a situation which reflected the dictatorial and undemocratic attitude towards the people and real leadership of Kashmir.
The statement said besides placing restrictions on the movement of resistance leadership, the BJP-PDP coalition government in the state was also trying to crush media so that it does not highlight the problems the people of Kashmir were facing.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Terming the continued house arrest of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as politics of revenge, the conglomerate said the Mirwaiz family, besides discharging its political duties, had been, for generations, rendering service in the religious field through sermons and discourse and thus spreading the message of Islam in Kashmir. With the onset of the holy month of Ramadan, the continuous house arrest of the Mirwaiz would practically stop him from discharging his religious responsibility as Mirwaiz which amounts to interference into religious affairs and religious freedom of the Muslims of Kashmir.
The APHC statement said being the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Kashmiri people share a bond of faith with Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, the bond becomes stronger and in such circumstances placing curbs on his religious activities becomes a cause of anger for the Muslim Kashmiris.
Condemning the continued house arrest of Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, arrest of Engineer Hilal Ahmad War and lodging him in Central Jail Srinagar and house arrests of a number of resistance leaders and workers, the statement said the aggressive tactics adopted by the state government on the resistance leadership were undemocratic, immoral and inhuman.
