An extra ordinary meeting was conducted on July 16 at Shalimar Campus, SKUAST-K under the chairmanship of Vice President Dr Neelofar in which the executive members and councillors attended the said meeting.
In a statement to KNS a spokesman of the Association said, “The press release which was published in Greater Kashmir dated 11th July, 2015 was discussed threadbare and all members raised their voice against the President who is going to press and media without taking the house into confidence. President was well informed by the Publicity Secretary regarding the said meeting but remained absent despite and was telephonically conveyed the decision of the house during the meeting. It was felt that it is duty of General Secretary and Publicity secretary to go for press releases, but the President has not bothered even to inform these executive members. This was totally violation of the rules and the President has taken association for a ride.”
“The majority members of the SSTA strongly protested against this attitude of the president in carrying out day to day activities since last few months. In exercise of the powers of Section II Para D and sub section IX and Section III, that in case of all controversial issues the decision adopted by majority through voice/text/e-mail or secret ballot shall be final and binding.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAn exercise was carried out to get the consent from the members, who gave their consent either by mail/text/voice or by signature. The majority supported below mentioned decision,” he said.
“As the majority supports the no confidence motion, therefore the body has no right to stand hence forth, it is therefore confirmed that the Association gets dissolved with immediate effect and in this regard the process for the elections is started. The election commissioner will be informed in due course of time to start the process for the upcoming elections as the term is also going to end very soon. In this regard a three member committee is constituted which comprises of Publicity Secretary, Joint Secretary and headed by General Secretary which will hand over the record and other things to the newly elected body,” he added.
The Association appealed the media that they should not entertain any press release from any member of the Association henceforth.
