Bandipora, Oct 30 (KNS) : In a series of significant public-oriented initiatives, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Shri Ajaz Ahmed Zargar (JKPS), today highlighted the ongoing celebrations marking the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and also presided over a Thana Diwas programme at Police Station Aragam.
Speaking about the occasion, SSP Bandipora underscored the importance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), observed annually on October 31 to honour the legacy of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision and leadership were instrumental in uniting the nation.
He informed that a series of events is being organised across the district under the banner of Ekta Diwas, aimed at promoting national integration, peace, and harmony among citizens. The ‘Run for Unity’, scheduled for tomorrow, will be the main highlight of the celebrations, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, police personnel, and members of civil society.

As part of the day’s engagements, the Bandipora Police also organised Thana Diwas at Police Station Aragam under the leadership of SSP Ajaz Ahmad Zargar. The event witnessed the participation of DySP DAR Ahmad Shafee, SHO Aragam Mir Kazam, and DDC Hajin Dr Gh Mustafa, along with a large gathering of local residents.
The interaction provided a platform for citizens to share their grievances and suggestions related to policing and community welfare. Officers gave a patient a hearing on the issues raised and assured prompt redressal through proper channels.
Locals appreciated the proactive efforts of Bandipora Police in curbing the drug menace and maintaining peace and order in the region.
Reiterating his commitment to public service, SSP Bandipora emphasised the importance of strong police-public relations and reaffirmed the department’s resolve to build a safe, peaceful, and drug-free society.(KNS)
