Srinagar residents accuse BEACON of stopping drainage project work in HMT-Shalten area

Srinagar, August 6 (KNS):  Srinagar Residents accused BEACON of stopping Drainage work near HMT-Shalten on Srinagar-Barramulla Road.

Residents told KNS that "It is highly regrettable that a prestigious Centrally funded drainage scheme 'AMRUT' from Shalteng to Noora hospital on the left side of Srinagar-Baramulla road is under execution by SMC Srinagar for the benefit of public, but BEACON, has stopped work near Gurdawara Petrol Pump on the plea road gets damaged."

Residents questioned the BEACON for not providing any surface drain along with the road sides.

"The work has been stopped for more than a month now. Drainage work is done on the sides of the road as such chances of road getting damaged are very little. However in the event road getting damaged, at the best the executing Agency could repair & restore roads or asked to compensate the damages," they said.

They asked the authorities of BEACON and SMC to formulate a joint team and workout plan for early execution of drainage project.(KNS)
