Srinagar, May 6 (KNS) : Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Drug and Food Control Department, have sealed five medical shops in the Qamarwari area for selling expired medicines, maintaining invalid stock details, and violating psychotropic substance protocols, officials said on Wednesday.
The action was taken under the 100-day campaign of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, they added.
A police spokesperson said the inspection team found flagrant violations of safety and legal regulations at the premises, following which the establishments were immediately sealed.
The erring operators were identified as Mohd Asif Matta, daughter of Late Ab Majeed Sheikh (Majid Medicate), Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, Shabir Ahmad Dar, and Mohd Hussain Najar. They are residents of Bilal Colony, Qamarwari Bund, and Qamarabad, respectively.
"Legal proceedings have been initiated against all violators. The drive reaffirms our commitment to public health and strict enforcement of pharmaceutical norms," the spokesperson said.
