Srinagar Police Participates in Drug Disposal Drive at Lassipora

Srinagar, Sept 29 (KNS) ; In a sustained and relentless crackdown against the menace of drug trafficking and the infrastructure supporting the illegal narcotics trade, Srinagar Police actively participated in the disposal of seized contraband and narcotic substances under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA) for the year 2025.

The disposal exercise took place at IGC Lassipora, Pulwama, and involved narcotics seized in connection with 49 FIRs registered under the NDPS Act in Srinagar. It was conducted in the presence of the members of Drug Disposal Committee, as per the provisions laid down in NDPS Act.

In total, approximately 1140 kilograms of seized narcotic substances were destroyed, including:
144.47 kgs of Poppy Straw
45.63 kgs of Ganja

0.93 kgs of Heroin
9,247 bottles of Codeine Phosphate
6,664 tablets of psychotropic substances.
This translates to a combined weight of around 196 kilograms of banned drugs, forming part of the total 1140 kgs of seized materials disposed off.

This initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Police in eradicating drug abuse and dismantling the networks behind it.

Srinagar Police remains steadfast in its commitment to making the district drug-free and continues to take strong action against those involved in drug peddling and trafficking.
