Srinagar, June 18 (KNS): In a significant push towards realizing the vision of a drug-free society, Srinagar Police on Wednesday conducted a large-scale destruction drive against Wild Bung (cannabis) in the Zakoora area, as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan — the 100-day campaign.
The operation, which saw active participation from the Excise Department, local residents, civil society members, and Maulanas at Peth Pandach, underscores the police's multi-pronged strategy to combat the menace of narcotics in the valley, a senior police officer said.
"The drive is part of our sustained proactive measures to eradicate illegal narcotic substances from the root.

With a special focus on safeguarding the youth from the perils of substance abuse, the authorities are also carrying out extensive awareness programmes alongside such destruction drives.
Appealing to the public for their continued cooperation, Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to the campaign and urged citizens to share any information regarding narcotics cultivation, peddling, or substance abuse with the nearest police establishment. "Your identity will be kept confidential," the police assured. (KNS).
