Srinagar, May 29 (KNS): On the directions of SSP Srinagar Dr. M. Haseeb Mughal-JKPS, Police parties of Srinagar Police accompanied by the concerned Executive Magistrates and representatives of CAPD and other concerned departments conducted surprise market checking in various markets of the Srinagar City like Nowgam and Lalbazar.

The checking was aimed at ensuring the quality and to curb black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities and to keep vigil on erring shopkeepers. Meanwhile, police added that such drives will be conducted on routine basis so that quality of commodities is ensured. Police urged shopkeepers not to violate the rules besides displaying the rate lists at their respective shops.

Locals appreciated the act and hoped such drives would continue in future as well. (KNS)
