Srinagar October 19:(KNS) Acting tough against social crimes, Srinagar police have arrested 05 gamblers from a gambling site and seized stake money from them.

A police party from Police Station Rainawari raided a gambling site near LAWDA office Mughal Mohalla following an input about gambling activities and apprehended five gamblers. They have been identified as Gowhar Rasool Malayar resident of Chowdary Bagh Rainwari, Hilal Ahmed Chola resident of Kralyar Rainwari, Mehraj Din Sultani resident of Gulshan Colony Dal, Gulzar Bhat resident of KhajPora Saidpora and Asif Bhat resident of Khan Colony Chanpora.

Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ?19,000/- from the gamblers. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Rainawari where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 49/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Rainawari and investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.(KNS)
