Srinagar, Feb 22 (KNS): The Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained shut for the second consecutive day on Wednesday due to the landslide and shooting stones even as hundreds of vehicles are stranded on the highway
An official said that a heavy landslide at Shalgadi, Banihal led to suspension of traffic on the highway.
He said the decision regarding allowing traffic on the highway will be taken only after road is cleared by the concerned road maintenance agency and after assessing the road condition.
Meanwhile, eye witnesses said that over 5000 vehicles remained stranded at various places on the highway.
Deputy commissioner Ramban said government has announced three dry days for repair and maintenance of critical spots on the highway.
"Dry Days announced by Government for Feb 24, Mar 03 & Mar 10 for repair & maintenance of critical spots on NH-44. No traffic will be allowed on these 3 days," he tweeted. (KNS)
