Srinagar, Feb 20 (KNS): Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) North Zone Chairperson Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat met sqay Martial Arts Players of Kashmir Region.
During the meeting Dr. Hina lend a helping hand in maintaining the old and rich traditions of Kashmir, pledging to revive the tradition of Martial Art from Kashmir known as ‘SQAY’.
Worth to mention here that Sqay is a South Asian form of sword fighting dating back to ancient periods. However, declined in the colonial period, the Sqay Martial Arts
During the meeting with Dr. Hina Six Sqay Martial Arts players who recently participated in 4th Tri-National International Sqay Martial Arts Championship at Kathmandu Nepal held from 2 feb to 4 feb asserted that they have been with this game since their childhood.
They said that Sqay Martial arts is the traditional game of Kashmir and one of the founder is Grand Master Mir Nazir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Wasim Ahmad Beigh, the Coach Cum player of Sqay won Gold Medal while as the other participants were Deeba Nabi, Sana Showkat, Imran Siddiq, Manzoor Bhat and Aqib Won silver Medals and Gold too.
One of the Player Deeba Nabi was sponsored by Dr. Hina Bhat and all other players appreciated Dr. Hina for her support to the team.
All the players were thankful to Coach Waseem Ahmad Beigh for supporting them and showing them a bright future.
On the occasion Wasim said that I Congratulate all the players for showing outstanding performance and for their hardwork. Wasim also thanked Grand Master Mir Nazir for supporting him at all levels.
