Take concrete for development of sports infrastructure in Kashmir region: Vakil

Srinagar, Oct 04 (KNS): Senior vice president People’s Conference (PC) and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said the administration should develop sports facilities in Jammu and Kashmir so that youth will be more inclined towards sports activities.

Addressing youth at Upper Belt of Braman Rafiabad, where Vakil was the chief guest on the occasion of a Cricket match. Vakil expressed his resentment against the government, for failing to address the issues of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. The youth of the region has enough talent, only they need is opportunities at the right place but it is unfortunate they are being ignored by both LG led administration and central government.He said former Governor of the erstwhile state, Satya Pal Malik had approved Rs 350 crore budget for raising infrastructure in separate sports. This budget was to complete all ongoing work in stadiums, playfields including game-specific infrastructure. Unfortunately, a very little percentage of work has been done in this regard so far, Vakil added

“Youth are our future and their demands should be prioritized and fulfilled in a time-bound manner. Sports stadium at Upper Belt of Braman Rafiabad should be developed, which is need of the hour.” Sports grounds, stadiums should be developed at every place, so that youth will not fall into the trap of drug menace,” Vakil added. 

Vakil also distributed prizes among the winners and runner-ups and urged them to keep their spirits high. He also appreciated the organizers for organizing sports such sports events and stated that sports will keep youth away from drugs and other harmful things. There is no alternative to hardwork and patience,” Vakil added. (KNS)
