Udhampur, Aug 25(KNS): The three-day Spandan League organised by the STC BSF Udhampur under the theme “Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation” concluded at Subhash Stadium here on Monday, with around 550 young boys and girls taking part in various sporting events.
The league, held on August 22, 24 and 25, featured competitions in badminton, kabaddi and volleyball for boys and girls from across Udhampur district.
IG STC BSF Udhampur Sandeep Channan was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony.
Among those present as guests of honour were Chief Judo Coach and In-charge Manager of Subhash Stadium Suraj Bhan Singh, international judo player Dinesh Sharma, District Sports Officer of the Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur Tarsim Singh, retired BSF SP S S Gill and retired BSF DSP Tajinder Singh.

As many as 18 schools participated in the league, with 18 teams competing in badminton, 24 in kabaddi and 16 in volleyball, taking the total number of teams to 58.
The event also witnessed the participation of around 90 officials and drew nearly 650 spectators.
The organisers said the league concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from young athletes and strong support from schools, officials and spectators.
The initiative aimed to promote sports among youth and underline the role of sporting activities in fostering peace, development and positive engagement among young people.(KNS).
