Srinagar, Jul 12 (KNS): Former Union Minister and senior congress leader, Prof. Saifuddin Soz on Tuesday said that it is tragic and unfortunate that the forces have opened fire at several places in South Kashmir during the past three days in which many precious lives were lost.
In a statement issued to KNS, Soz said, “I express deepest distress over these deaths and share the agony of the bereaved families, in full measure.”
He said that the state administration would be well-advised to satisfy itself fully on observance of SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) and see why the lethal weapons could not be avoided. “The people in Kashmir however think that the SOP has been flagrantly violated,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that at this critical juncture, he appealed the youth for peace and asked them not to give any chance to forces to open fire.
“It is deplorable that Delhi's Power Elite have broken the very instruments that would help it to be in touch with the reality in Kashmir and understand youth and the concerns in their mind,” he said.
He said that it is more tragic that the Indian Civil Society chose to watch the theatre of killings in Kashmir silently.
Meanwhile, he asked the state administration to reach the bereaved families at earliest. (KNS)
