Soz condemns ‘obnoxious’ statement of Sakhshi Mahraj

‘Such statements are dangerous to Unity, Integrity of India’

Srinagar, Mar 02 (KNS): Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader, Prof. Saifuddin Soz on Thursday condemned the ‘obnoxious’ statement of BJP PM, Sakshi Mahraj wherein he had stated that ‘there is no need of graveyards as everyone should be cremated, irrespective of their religious belief’.
In a statement issued to KNS, Soz said, “I reject the statement with the contempt that it deserves.”
He said, “There is no doubt that during the present dispensation at the centre, the Idea of India –Pluralistic, Secular, Socially harmonious, free and democratic- has been in great strain. It is countless members of the BJP party who are also the Members of the Parliament, who have been indulging in statements that are potentially sectarian, communal and disruptionist in nature.”
He said that the Prime Minister and his senior colleagues have not taken any notice of such potentially dangerous statements.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Soz said that the senior leaders of the BJP have been saying that these are stray voices. “But, these obnoxious voices that are dangerous to the Unity and Integrity of India, have continued, unabated,” he said.
He said, “The Sakshi Mahraj and the Mahant Avaidnath have been making disgraceful and nakedly communal statements in Utter Pradesh and the BJP leadership doesn’t want to take notice as they want to grab power in Utter Pradesh.”
Soz said that he believe that the general run of Indians must condemn the statement that can cause deep social disharmony. “One wonders how long PM Modi will provide patronage to these RSS/BJP diehards who have been continuously expressing their pernicious ideas!.” (KNS)
