Sopore, June 4 (KNS): In a major crackdown under the ongoing '100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan', police have arrested four drug peddlers in two separate operations and recovered 150 codeine bottles besides psychotropic capsules in north Kashmir's Sopore officials said on Thursday.

A police party of Police Station Sopore during patrolling in the Badambagh area intercepted three suspects who attempted to flee but were apprehended tactfully, a police spokesperson said. He said 150 bottles of codeine-based syrup were recovered from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Irfan Ahmad Peer, Ajaz Ahmad Mattoo and Umer Zahoor Najar—all residents of Badambagh. An FIR under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, the spokesperson said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In another operation, during night naka checking at Sangrama-Seer Crossing, police intercepted one person identified as Majid Ashraf Khan, a resident of Peth Seer. Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus capsules were recovered from him, he said. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo.

The back-to-back operations reflect the intensified anti-drug campaign being undertaken by Sopore Police to dismantle narcotics networks, the spokesperson added.

Sopore Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and warned peddlers of strict legal action under the NDPS Act, while urging the public to cooperate in building a drug-free society the police spokesperson further added. (KNS)
