Sopore, June 18 (KNS): Continuing its drive against the menace of drug abuse, police in Sopore, in coordination with the Drug Control Authorities, today sealed two chemist shops for violating provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act.
A police spokesperson said that the joint team carried out a surprise inspection of medical shops at Main Chowk Sopore. During the checking, the chemist shops run by Tahir Shafi, son of Late Mohammad Shafi, resident of Shalimar Colony Sopore, and Mohammad Amin Shah, son of Habibullah Shah, resident of Krankshivan Colony Sopore, were found flouting norms.
The inspection team observed serious irregularities, including the sale of prescription medicines without valid prescriptions and overcharging customers beyond the prescribed rates, the official said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe shops were sealed on the spot after completing the requisite legal formalities.
The action is part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan aimed at preventing the diversion and misuse of pharmaceutical drugs and ensuring strict compliance with the law. Sopore Police reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against all violators and have advised chemists to strictly follow regulations and refrain from selling Schedule H, H1, and X category medicines without proper prescription, billing, and record maintenance.
