Solution to K-issue lies in showing political will, not inn exhibiting military might: Mirwaiz

New Delhi, Oct 19 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday advised Govt of India that the solution to the vexed Kashmir issue lies in showing political will and courage to resolve the issue not in exhibiting a military approach to procrastinate the issue.
Addressing a Round Table Conference (RTC) organized by the Centre for Policy Analysis (CPA) at the India International Center (IIC) in New Delhi, the Mirwaiz said nothing could be gained by overlooking the political and historic facts of Kashmir issue, which would only put the peace of the entire region in danger.
The representative of different political parties, retired civil servants, writers, scholars, intellectuals, literati and Indian civil society members participated in the conference.
Presenting the historic facts of Kashmir issue, the APHC Chairman delved on the necessity of the political solution of Kashmir.
He said Kashmir was both a political issue and a human problem and highlighted the dangers unresolved Kashmir posses to South Asia’s peace.
The Mirwaiz, representing Kashmiri people and pleading their cause, said Indian political leadership was following unrealistic policies and trying to implement them by force on the people of Kashmir.
Talking in detail, he said unresolved Kashmir issue is a danger for both the nuclear neighbors and has remained a cause of constant confrontation between them for the past seven decades, casting a shadow on the peace of the entire region.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The APHC Chairman said instead of educating the people of India about the long-standing Kashmir dispute, they are being misled about the situation in Kashmir by presenting it as a law and order problem and not as a unresolved political dispute.
He said the civil society of India has a role to educate the Indian masses about the ground reality in Kashmir and the importance of resolving this issue.
The Mirwaiz said that politics of polarization and communal hatred was against Indian’s own interest. He said extremist Indian elements were trying to create communal tensions in Jammu Kashmir, sometimes by arousing religious passions and sometimes by raking up sectarian tensions in a bid to push their own agenda in Kashmir.
The APHC Chairman said this policy can neither put the Kashmir issue on the backburner nor demoralize the people of Kashmir from carrying forward with their just struggle for right to self-determination.
He said by using force and stopping Hurriyat leaders from carrying political activities, Govt cannot change the stand of the freedom-loving people and the Hurriyat leadership.
The Mirwaiz has also condemned enforcing curfew in Downtown Srinagar and South Kashmir’s Islamabad region where Police and Indian forces used oppressive tactics against the local population, arrest of senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and house detention of senior Hurriyat leader Javaid Ahmad Mir.
