Forest Department Again Confiscated Illicit Timer In Najwan Forests

Ganderbal November 09: (KNS) The wanton plunder of green gold continues in various Compartments Of Sindh Forest Range Kangan of Ganderbal district as Forest Protection continuously confiscated illicit timber in third time during the past one month.

According to sourcces, forest officials received information on Monday morning that Unknown Smugglers Cut Down Timber at Sindh Forest Range Kangan of Compartment 3 Akhal block 1st around 70 feet of Deodar, and now going to be sold in another area in high prices after which a team of Range Officer Control Room ,Territorial Staff along with Forest Protection Force (FPF) and Forest Personals reached the place and seized the Illicit Timber and took it into custody. However, before they reached the spot smuggler managed to escape from the there.

It is third time during last one month, the illegally smuggled wood has been confiscated from several Compartments of Sindh Forest Range Kangan compartments by the Protection force and territorial staff.

The loot of the green gold, reports said continues in Akhal, Najwan, and other areas of Kangan while smugglers are also successful every time to escape from spots.

The Najwan ,Akhal forest area is one of most worst hit where timber smugglers are seen vandalizing the forests in broad day light without any fear.

Our environment is under threat ,we appealed the higher officials of forest department to initiate step into this issue which has caused huge loss to our environment and forests ,said locals.

Locals said that Government Organizes forest camps for the protection of forests and on the other hand Smugglers are blowing the flames of all these and cut down the green gold trees and sell them at expensive prices in other areas.

According to locals if forest Smuggling is not being stopped, than the day is not far when only the bare mountains will appear while no trees will be seen in the forests.

When Assistant Director Forest Protection Force Control Room Mamer Mohd Younis Kumar was contacted by this Correspondent He said he would call back after five minutes but then he did not call back.

When KNS Contacted Conservator Forest Srinagar Circle Zubair Ahmad Shah over Phone he didn't bother to respond phone calls by this correspondent(KNS)
