SMC conducts ‘Sunday for Srinagar’ drive

Srinagar, Sep 26 (KNS): SMC conducted a special sanitation and cleanliness drive under Sunday for Srinagar Initative in Gangbuk, Taakanwari, Nawakadal, Maloora, Batpora Habbak, Babedem.

SMC, in a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said it has started this initiative since March 2021 and is continuing to clean identified bad spots including River embankments, water channels, and all those spots that require extra cleanliness drives.

Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan under whose supervision and direction the campaign was started, personally monitored these drives and himself actively participated along with other officials and officers of Corporation.

“The sunday for Srinagar drives are being consistently conducted every Sunday in which people from all walks of life voluntarily participate particularly students, NGOs etc.”

The statement reads the locations, where these drives are conducted earlier are being inspected first and decided in a Sunday for Srinagar weekly review meeting held under the Chairmanship of Commissioner SMC.

“Besides routine sanitation in all the adminatrative wards an extensive and special multiple sanitation drives are being conducted atleast three times a week,” it reads. (KNS)
