SKUAST-K VC gets Fulbright-Nehru Award

 Srinagar, Apr 10 (KNS): Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, has been selected for the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators (FNIEA) Award for the year 2025-26, officials said on Friday.

 
The selection was announced by the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), placing Prof Ganai among a select group of Indian academic leaders for a high-level engagement with the US higher education system under the US government-sponsored Fulbright-Nehru programme, they said.
 
The FNIEA award is meant for senior-level academic administrators and entails participation in seminars, institutional visits, and meetings with American universities and government agencies to facilitate exchange of perspectives on higher education systems and academic practices, officials added.
 
Under the programme, Prof Ganai is expected to engage with US institutions to explore collaboration opportunities and global academic practices, they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
During his tenure as VC, SKUAST-K has expanded international academic linkages, including collaborations with the University of Guelph in Canada, Western Sydney University, and Murdoch University in Australia, an official spokesperson said.
 
The university has also introduced new academic programmes in areas such as artificial intelligence in agriculture, economics, and data sciences to align with emerging trends in the sector.
 
Reacting to the selection, Prof Ganai said he was honoured and described the recognition as a reflection of the university’s growing engagement in the global academic space. He said he would seek to bring back insights to further strengthen academic standards and collaborations.
 
SKUAST-K has been ranked among leading state agricultural universities in India in recent assessments, reflecting developments in research, academics, and outreach, officials added. (KNS)
