Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): The scientific fraternity of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir strongly condemned the arbitrary and coercive act of raiding at the residence of our scientist Dr Syed Naseem Geelani, SKUAST-Kashmir.
According to a statement issued to KNS, scientific fraternity said, “Arbitrary raids and quizzing of Dr Naseem Geelani amounts to harassment and mental torture of such a scientist of reputes besides affecting the university academics”.
Undue raid conducted by NIA just to drag and involve our scientist into fabricated cases otherwise last year he has attended the NIA, New Delhi thrice and was given the clean chit by the investigation agency.
“We have already made it clear that we are not opposing the enquiry conducted by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Dr Naseem Geelani will cooperate with the agency but such arbitrary approach by the agencies needs to be revised as per law and to the minimum disadvantage of the scientist and the university” the President said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Dr Naseem Geelani is a well-known scientist serving SKUAST-K and proved himself as an honest, dedicated and sincere to his duties and has no political affiliation with Hurriyat and its working in Kashmir, being son of Hurriyat leader does not make him an antinational or criminal.
We are hopeful of professional approach of the NIA and urge the organization to not harass Dr. Geelani and do all formalities after following due process of Law.
SKUAST-K Scientists and Teachers Association (SSTA), appeals to the union home minister, Govt of India and Governor, J&K state, Satya Pal Malik who is also the Chancellor of SKUAST-K not to implicate our scientist arbitrarily and instruct the NIA not to treat him as a criminal and follow due process of law while dealing with the case.
