SKUAST-K’s KVK Ganderbal awarded ICAR’s best Krishi Kendra award

Srinagar, Dec 25 (KNS): In recognition of its service to the farming community, SKUAST-K’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ganderbal has been honoured with the ‘Best Krishi Vigyan Kendra Award’ for its outstanding contributions to agricultural extension and rural empowerment.

The award was presented to Head of KVK Ganderbal, Dr Ajaz Ahmed Malik, during the three-day National Level Zonal Workshop of KVKs (Zone I) held at SKUAST-Jammu. Instituted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through the Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI Zone I, PAU Ludhiana), the award highlights KVK Ganderbal’s exemplary role in bringing innovation-driven outreach to the doorsteps of farmers.

Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmed, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire KVK Ganderbal team. Prof Raihana Habib, Director Extension at SKUAST-K, also lauded the unit’s dedication, noting that the Kendra has consistently demonstrated inclusivity and innovation in its programs.

This award not only elevates the status of KVK Ganderbal but also reinforces SKUAST-Kashmir’s position as a premier institution dedicated to self-sustainable agriculture. By bridging the gap between scientific research and field application, the Kendra continues to play a pivotal role in the university’s mission to empower rural communities and celebrate the achievements of the farmers who are at the heart of the region's economy.(KNS)
