Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNS): 34th Annual Day of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar was celebrated on 5th of December, 2016 in SKIMS Auditorium.
Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, (Chairperson, Governing Body, SKIMS) graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Bali Bhagat, Minister for Health & Medical Education, J&K participated as Guest of Honour and Asiea Naqash, Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, J&K also participated as Guest of Honour. The Sher-i-Kashmir Oration was delivered by Prof. Shiv Kumar Sarin, Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, outshined any “Statesman Par Excellence” while highlighting the role of Founder of SKIMS, Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for having realized the dream of dedicating this prestigious Institution to the people of Jammu & Kashmir, besides some of his landmark historical changes against the autocratic rule during his political journey were also remembered with tremendous respect.
On this occasion, Chief Minister felicitated the Faculty Members, Staff and Students belonging to Medical and Nursing profession with awards and certificates for their exemplary performances in the respective fields and appreciated the staff of SKIMS in exhibiting their courage and reaching out to the patients during the turbulent times that the Valley has been witnessing.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Chief Minister while expressing her satisfaction over the functioning of SKIMS, emphasized that there is a need to maintain the same spirit and enthusiasm which the employees of this Institute have been showing from time to time by their dedication and commitment towards their society. Prof A.G. Ahangar, Director, SKIMS & Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, while welcoming all the participants, highlighted some major achievements of SKIMS and his Reforms Programme for the growth and progress of SKIMS. He admired the contributions made by its Faculty and other staff members towards betterment and upliftment of the patient care/research activities.
He thanked all the guests/invitees and conveyed his warmest thanks to the participants from all walks of life in gracing the occasion by taking out their precious time to participate in the function. (KNS)
