Siraj's Five-for Seals Thrilling Win for India at The Oval

London, August 4 (KNS): Mohammed Siraj delivered a sensational spell on the final morning at The Oval to help India pull off a dramatic six-run win against England, leveling the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 in a nail-biting finish.

Needing just 35 runs with four wickets in hand on Day 5, England looked set to chase down the target, despite Chris Woakes battling a dislocated shoulder. But Siraj turned the game with his swing and accuracy, taking three wickets in a brilliant spell to complete a five-wicket haul.

India's comeback began when Jamie Smith edged Siraj behind early in the morning. Jamie Overton was trapped LBW soon after, and though Josh Tongue survived a review against Prasidh Krishna, he was later bowled by a sharp yorker. That left England needing 17 runs with only the injured Woakes and Gus Atkinson at the crease.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Atkinson tried to farm the strike and even hit a six, but Siraj had the final say, bowling him with a yorker to seal the win in front of a near full crowd at The Oval.

Earlier, centuries from Joe Root (105) and Harry Brook (111) had put England in control on Day 4, before rain forced the match into a fifth day. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 118 and a solid lower-order effort had helped set a strong second-innings total.

India’s bowlers, led by Siraj (5-104) and Prasidh Krishna (4-126), stood out in the second innings to secure a memorable victory.
