Jammu, Jan 16 (KNS): Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti here on Monday said that India can’t alter Kashmir’s geographical and historical attachment with Pakistan and will have to resume the dialogue process from where former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has left but she simultaneously blamed resistance leadership for allowing an opportunity of dialogue to go waste when it shut doors on senior parliamentarians during unrest last year.
According to KNS correspondent, saying that dialogue with Pakistan was resumed even after the Kargil war and the attack on parliament, Chief Minister said India and Pakistan will have to learn to live as friendly neighbors the chief minister said though resistance leadership allowed an opportunity of dialogue to go waste by shutting doors on a group of senior parliamentarians during unrest last year but fresh efforts will be made to resume the talks she however said since shutting doors on senior parliamentarians by resistance leadership sent out a very wrong message to New Delhi it will now take time to persuade the government in Delhi to resume dialogue in Kashmir. Calling for sharing of resources with Pak administered Kashmir, Chief Minister said the opening of trade and travel routes between the divided parts of Jammu and Kashmir is high on the agenda of alliance.
Touching upon the issue of protection of Article 370, Chief Minister said the real soul of Article 370 lies in cultural ethos and mutual brotherhood of Kashmir. Regretting that resettlement of Migrant Kashmiri Pandits in transit camps in Valley is eyes shut dubbed and attempt to change demography in Kashmir, Chief Minister said Kashmiri Pandits are inseparable part of Kashmir society and we will do everything to foster the reunion of separated Kashmiri Pandit families with the Muslims in Valley. According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, announcing that government would also compensate the Jammu victims of 2008 land row agitation on the pattern of the compensation announced for the victims of 2016 unrest, the chief Minister said Jammu has the distinction of accommodating Migrant Kashmiri Pandits and the people who migrated to Jammu for education during 2016 unrest.
Saying that hand holding of youth is the biggest challenge for the government, the chief Minister said the youth involved in stone pelting incidents are mostly orphans and have the disadvantage of losing their fathers or mothers in militancy related incidents.
Saying that the incidents like the killing of lecturer in Khrew and ATM guard in Srinagar will be investigated in specific time set for the investigation Chief Minister said other killings would also be investigated by district level Special Investigation Teams (SITs), the chief minister said if need arises much broader and the higher level of investigation would also be given a thought.
Referring to the killing of a student of Latu family in Bijbehara, the chief minister said the family of the victim would also be compensated.
Announcing that government would not re-arrest those youth against home PSA’s are quashed by the courts, the chief Minister said government would also review the cases of such youth against whom there are not more severe charges of involvement in attacks on police and paramilitaries.
Chief Minister also responded with seriousness the allegations of a sitting MLC who said that more than 250 youth on whom PSAs were slapped during 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2016 unrest and they are denied passports and jobs. (KNS)
