SHRC a useless body, a toothless tiger: DFP

‘Heavy force deployment outside residences of Geelani, Shah an eye-opener’

Srinagar, Feb 18 (KNS): The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Saturday termed the counter statements of police and government lawyer in State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) as a blatant lie.
In a statement issued to KNS, a DFP spokesperson said to resort to such acts at the behest of administration is shameful as the police and government lawyer are denying that reality which is known to everyone.
“The SHRC itself is a useless body the status of which is reduced to just a showpiece. Even the state government doesn’t acknowledge the credibility of this toothless department. That is why the police and other authorities shamefully make false statements there with utmost ease,” he said.
“The people too don’t have an iota of faith in SHRC as they have come to know that the department which maintains silence over the barbarity inflicted upon people by pellet guns and the terrorism unleashed by forces is good for nothing. The stature of this department is no more than any village Panchayat,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The spokesperson said, “Even judiciary is influenced by state and the PDP has surpassed all the records of telling lies, committing human rights violations, and cracking down on resistance leadership. It won’t be an exaggeration to term the PDP as heirs of Halaku Khan and Chengiz Khan.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson said the party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah is under continuous house arrest since 2011 and is not allowed to perform his religious obligations. “A large contingent of police force is placed outside his residence,” he said.
He also condemned the continuous house arrest of octogenarian leader and APHC chairman Syed Ali Geelani saying the heavy contingent of force outside his residence is an eye-opener for everyone.
“Why is SHRC silent over such realities, it should have take cognizance of these issues,” he said. (KNS)
