Srinagar, May 12 (KNS); J&K Peoples Conference President and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone on Tuesday launched a scathing indictment against the Roads and Buildings Department, accusing it of deliberately tampering with his official road project list under the C&T sector. He highlighted the brazen deletion of his recommended projects while substituting roads his office had never proposed or sanctioned.
Addressing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah directly, Lone said the move amounted to humiliating and belittling an elected representative.
“We had submitted our proposed plan to the R and B department under C and T sector. I was perusing the list released by the department. They have tinkered with the list, deleted some roads sent by us and added some roads which have not been proposed by me,” he said.
While stating that additional roads were welcome, Lone asserted that such additions should not come “at the cost of the proposal sent by an elected representative.”
In a strong critique on the government, Lone questioned why the Chief Minister was allowing bureaucratic interference that undermines the authority of MLAs.

Escalating his criticism further, he accused the ruling establishment of displaying “disdainful servitude” before Delhi while attempting to weaken democratic institutions within Jammu and Kashmir.
“You bend your back backwards and display disdainful servitude in Delhi and here you want to trivialise the institution of an MLA,” Loen remarked.
He also took a direct swipe at the Chief Minister, saying political courage should be shown before Delhi and not through “allocation of roads in Handwara.”
“If you are man enough and want to showcase your valorous traits showcase that in Delhi not in allocation of roads in Handwara,” he said.
Issuing a stern warning to officials allegedly bypassing the law, Lone declared that the matter was “not the end but the start.”
“That is my promise,” he added. (KNS)
