Baramulla, Jun 20 (KNS): National Conference MLA Javid Hassan Baigh has directed the Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla to adhere strictly to tendering norms and ensure full transparency in all contractual arrangements, warning that any deviation would invite accountability from the head of the institution.
In an official communication to the GMC Principal accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) the MLA raised concerns over pending disputed tenders and called for their expeditious processing. He directed that all tender notices and related documents be shared with his office and that regular full-term tenders must be floated in accordance with prescribed rules before any short-term arrangements are considered.
MLA Baigh further stipulated that all short-term agreements shall be executed in the presence of his Public Relations Officer (PRO), a representative of the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, and an official from the college.

The MLA stressed that comprehensive safeguards and conditions be framed to ensure procedural compliance. He clarified that any contravention of these directions would rest solely with the institutional head and invite appropriate action under relevant rules.
GMC Baramulla is currently undergoing infrastructural expansion, with authorities recently announcing the establishment of an MRI and Cath Lab at an estimated cost of Rs 37.50 crore this fiscal. (KNS)
