Shopian, 26, June: In its first ever meeting held at Batapora Shopian, SWJA elected an interim body.

Senior journalist Mohamamd Ashraf Hamamad was elected as interim  president while Umar Rashid, correspondent GNS was elected as interim secretary.

Greater Kashmir correspondent Gulzar Bhat was elected as spokesperson of the association.

Shah Irshad, correspondent Gulistan Tv was elected as treasurer of the association.
 
In the meeting, a host of issues confronting the journalists of the area were discussed.

Prominent among others who participated in the meeting included  Fayaz Wani, editor Daily Ilhaq, Jan Nisar Ahmad, correspondent Prasar Bharti, Rashid Hassan, correspondent, Sheikh  Hilal, correspondent Kashmir Life,  Junaid Gulzar , Mir Aasif , Mohammad Umar Malik, Suhail Shabkr, Mubashir Bhat, Qazi Asif , Yawar Nizaam, Basharat Amin, Raja Zaid and others.
