Shopian administration continue snow clearing operation throughout night

Srinagar, Jan 6 (KNS): Shopian administration continued its Snow clearance round the clock in the intervening nights of 5th & 6th January, despite heavy snowfall continued in all. Reports said In Shopian town, the accumulation was about 4 ft while in upper reaches like Devpora and Sedow it went beyond 6 feet. Among other regions, in Kaprin, Imamsahib, Chitragam it stood above 4 ft while in Keller it went above 5 ft.

"As of 3 pm, the main District roads including Shopian-Pulwama road, Shopian-Keller road, Shopian-Zainpora-Bijbehara road and Shopian-Hermain-Kulgam road were cleared by MED," an official said.

""Owing to heavy accumulation, extra heavy machinery such as Snow Rolbas were pressed into action. Apart from these around 36 interior roads connecting large regions were cleared by R&B Teams. Deputy Commissioner Shopian Choudhary Mohd Yasin and other senior officials oversaw clearance operations on the ground themselves at night," he added.

Regarding the Power scenario, the official informed “Kashmir News Service” that power scenario was maintained better but faults occurred overnight in 33 KV following which 5 receiving stations at Batpora, Pinjoora, Gagran, Arhama, Keller and Chowdrigund suffered repeated breakdown.
