Srinagar April 7:(KNS)  Apni Party District President and Former MLA Shoaib Nabi Lone on Thursday expressed strong resentment towards the official apathy pertinent to the developmental module of the Sopore town.

Expressing dismay over the lack of infrastructure and other basic facilities, Lone said that the Sopore Town was called as "Chota London" however now one can only see damaged infrastructure , clapped out hospitals, dilapidated roads, unfitness of schools and lack of other basic amenities in the town.

In a statement to the press, Lone said , "It is extremely pitiful on the part of administration that despite having funds for development, one can only see poor building conditions of hospitals, leaking public toilets, smelly surroundings, broken furniture in goverment offices, classrooms that are in shambles with mouldy walls and plaster falling off ceilings all across the Sopore Town. The inefficiency of developmental labour and poor or zero maintenance and repair work of various structures acts as a catalyst for the development of the poverty. The infrastructure problems in schools not only affect academic performance, but they also infringe on the right to education, as well as the right to safety and health of learners as well as of teachers," he said.

Lone called upon the District Administration to look into the matter and provide alleviating solutions by providing access to basic needs such as health care, education, food resources, transportation and more to increase productivity and improves the quality of life for the local masses.(KNS)
