Shiv Sena MP from Maharashtra writes to Amit Shah, urges for regularization, salary enhancement of CIC operators of J&K

Srinagar, Feb 23 (KNS): Shiv Sena MP from Maharashtra, Priyanka Chaturvedi has written to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to raise the demand of regularization and enhancement of salary of CIC operators working in Rural Development Department Jammu and Kashmir.

In her letter, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), Sena MP has urged Amit Shah to take an empathetic view of their demands of salary enhancement and regularization and provide them the justice they deserve by ensuring an expedited action in this regard.

"I am writing this letter to raise a long pending demand of the CIC operators working in Rural Development Department UT of Jammu & Kashmir. Their demand for regularization and enhancement of salary enhancement has been up in the air for the last 18 years," reads the letter.

It reads that these CIC operators recruited in 2004 on merit basis, with degrees like MCA, MTech, MSc, IT, BE and B-Tech. have been surviving on meagre 10,000 a month, without any salary hike even after putting 18 years of their life to serve the department. Despite a government empowered committee clearing the regularization of 172 community information centre (CIC) operators in 2017, the operators continue to work on a contractual basis for almost two decades.

"The revocation of special status under Article 370 of J&K by the Centre in 2019, further impeded the regularization of these operators. Presently, the government has sent the matter to another sub-committee, putting their concerns into the cold storage once again."

It reads that they have already gone through various committees since last 18 years with no definitive outcome. "They continue to face difficulties to feed their families on such paltry salaries, and most of them have become overaged for other government jobs and have been running from pillar to post for their regularization."

"Therefore, I urge you to take an empathetic view of their demands of salary enhancement and regularization and provide them the justice they deserve by ensuring an expedited action in this regard. The government must fulfil its promise of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas’ because unfortunately, till now these CIC operators have not been recipients of any of the promises made," reads the letter.
